"Created as the new cover
illustration for the 23rd International Conference
on the Fantastic in the Arts held March 20-24, 2002, I often described this
piece as Jules Vern meets George Lucas.
"I can't think of anything more fun than blending elements of vintage aviation
along with fantasy and science fiction. Who could ask for more! When I create
much of my 3D illustration there is a point where the most amazing thing
happens, the piece takes on a life of its own, and with the littlest
imagination, it actually almost becomes real as I work. Believe me, it was a
wonderful feeling to revisit this warm distant world day after day, where in
actuality it was being created in the middle of a cold Denver winter. The
event was a huge success and I very much look forward to working again with
the IAFA in this upcoming year."
